This is a CHALLENGE FORMAT. Students will take a challenge examination and based on the scores in each section the student will be assigned relative course work.

PENDING NYS BEMS APPROVAL
A New York State Paramedic Challenge Refresher course will be held at the SIEMT Training Center, which, upon successful completion, leads students eligibile to take the New York State Examination for re-certification as a paramedic (unless the student is unauthorized per the Public Health Law Article 30).
This program is the revised New York State Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic curriculum, which includes lectures & practical skill sessions, Mandatory 2020 CPR/AED guidelines and optional ACLS and PALS renewals. This program meets & exceeds the FDNY requirement for the Civil Service position of EMT-Paramedic & Firefighter.
Number of Hours: Didactic hours will be determined based on the results of each individual student's challenge written examination. Skill lab sessions will be based on the results of the practical challenge examination.
Current Format: All didactic sessions are conducted either in person or on-line with students only appearing for evaluation and required skill sessions.
Total Cost: $800.00 if not eligible for NYS EMS tuition (Includes $200 NON-REFUNDABLE Seat Deposit) (**Note ACLS and PALS are $150 each if needed)
Total Cost: Members of Approved New York State EMS Agencies pay full tuition up front ($200 NON-REFUNDABLE) are eligible to recieve reimbursement upon passing the New York State Exam. SIEMT required EVIDENCE of a PASSING SCORE in order to submit for reimbursement. (Seat Deposit due upon registration). Any other finanical arrangements should be made directly with the sponsor administrator.

Course Description: This Program is conducted utilizing a “challenge” format. Students have the option to have their participation for on-line assignments or practical skills sessions waived for successfully completing a written challenge and/or practical skills examination. Each student is provided a customized learning program to ensure successful completion of course objectives and required psychomotor skills. Students are also provided with a review of New York State Protocol and Policy changes that may have occurred since their last credentialing period.
General Topics: Safety & Wellness, Medical, Legal & Ethical Issues, Pharmacology, Patient Assessment, Advanced Airway Techniques, Basic & Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Medical Emergencies, Cardiology & EKG Review, Intravenous Therapy, Trauma Management, Special Patient Populations, and EMS Operations
Upon Course Completion: Students who successfully complete all aspects of this program will be eligible to participate in New York State and National Registry & Written Examinations. Students will have also achieved credentials in the following disciplines:
American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Optional)
American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Optional)
FEMA Introduction to Incident Command Systems (ICS 100) for Healthcare/Hospitals (Must provide a copy)
FEMA Introduction to National Incident Management System (NIMS 700) (Must provide a copy)
TEEX WMD for First Responders
