PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING.

The Staten Island Emergency Medical Training Center (SIEMT) offers a comprehensive New York State Emergency Medical Technician program designed to prepare students for New York State EMT certification and careers in Emergency Medical Services.

This program follows the current New York State Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician curriculum and includes classroom lectures, hands-on practical skills training, scenario-based education, current CPR/AED guidelines, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training.

CLASS SCHEDULE

The first class session is held on a full Saturday.

Following the initial Saturday session, classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

PREREQUISITES

Applicants must:

• Be at least 17 years old by the completion of the course
• Be able to read, write, and understand English
• Meet all applicable New York State EMS certification requirements

A driver's license is not required to enroll in the program but is encouraged.  A government ID is required.

TUITION — $1,800 ALL INCLUSIVE

The total tuition for the EMT Program is $1,800.00.

non-refundable $200 enrollment deposit is required at the time of registration. The deposit reserves the student's seat in the program.

The remaining tuition balance is due on or before the first scheduled class session unless an approved payment arrangement has been made in advance.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENT

Students are required to have access to a laptop computer or tablet throughout the course.

A smartphone alone is not sufficient to meet the technology requirements of the program.

Students will use their device for:

• Google Classroom
• Electronic textbooks and reading materials
• Assignments
• Quizzes
• Examinations
• Course communications and announcements
• Other educational resources

Students who do not have access to an appropriate laptop or tablet may borrow a SIEMT tablet, subject to availability.

$100 refundable security deposit is required for a loaned tablet. The deposit will be refunded when the tablet is returned to SIEMT in the same working condition in which it was issued, normal wear and tear excepted.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION & PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Students are responsible for regularly monitoring the email address provided during registration, including their spam and junk mail folders.

Failure to complete required pre-course assignments or submit required documentation by the deadlines established by SIEMT may delay or prevent participation in the course and may subject the student to SIEMT's attendance, cancellation, tuition, and enrollment policies.

FDNY EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION

This program is designed to meet or exceed applicable New York State EMT educational requirements and provide students with training relevant to those interested in pursuing employment opportunities with the FDNY and other EMS agencies.  (This course meets or exceeds the FDNY civil service requirement for EMT & Firefighter).

Completion of the SIEMT EMT Program does not guarantee employment with the FDNY or any other employer.

CLINICAL EDUCATION — 16 HOURS REQUIRED

In addition to classroom instruction, all students are required to successfully complete a minimum of 16 hours of clinical education.

Clinical education may include hospital Emergency Department rotations, ambulance field rotations, and other approved clinical experiences.

All clinical assignments are arranged, scheduled, and coordinated by the Staten Island Emergency Medical Training Center.

Students are responsible for attending their assigned rotations on time, following all SIEMT and clinical-site requirements, and successfully completing all required clinical documentation and competency requirements.
